A Bit of Déjà Vu Around Vibe Coding

When I see what is currently being “programmed” with “Vibe Coding” I get a distinct sense of déjà vu…

Back in the mid-80s, when the first desktop publishing programs like Aldus PageMaker (acquired by Adobe in the 90s) started gaining traction, half the world suddenly thought they were professional graphic designers. The results were almost guaranteed to make your eyes bleed.

Then came PowerPoint — and suddenly every aspiring manager was making “presentations”.

And now, “Vibe Coding”. Once again, countless people think they can program and build meaningful software. But just like back then, most of them completely lacking the basic fundamentals.

Previewing drafts

With hugo server -D Hugo also shows files with draft: true. When publishing, simply remove the draft status.

Keep images small

Resize images to the width you actually need before embedding them. It saves loading time, especially on mobile, and costs almost no visible quality.

A short experience report

This is what a small experience report could look like: a few sentences on what was tried, what worked and what didn’t. Nothing more is needed.

Several paragraphs are possible too, and so are lists:

  • the first thing
  • the second thing
